Eidul-Fitr was celebrated with solemnity and simplicity to show solidarity with the survivors of the October 8 earthquake in Multan and other parts of Southern Punjab.

Eid prayer congregations were held at more than 200 mosques and Eidgahs throughout the district and special prayers were offered after Eid prayers for the earthquake victims.

In Multan; the largest congregations were held at Shahi Eidgah, Abdali mosque, Khair-ul-Madaris and Garrison ground of Multan city, where parliamentarians and political dignitaries offered Eid prayers.

Security was tightened in the city with deployment of over 1000 policemen at mosques and other prayer places to thwart any untoward incident during the Eid celebrations.

Federal Minister for Food & Agriculture Sikandar Hayat Bosan offered prayers in Multan, Former President of Pakistan, Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari and Federal Minister for Information Technology Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari, in Choti Zireen (Dera Ghazi Khan), PML-N Punjab Chief Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khosa in Dera Ghazi Khan, Former Punjab Governor Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar in Khar Gharbi (Muzaffargarh), ARD Vice President and Chief of PDP Nawabzada Mansoor Ahmed Khan in Khangarh (Muzaffargarh).
